ALLENSTOWN- Jay A. Sargent, 59, of Allenstown, passed away on January 14, 2023 at the Granite VNA Hospice House after a long illness. Born in Concord, Jay was the son of the late R. Royce and Jo-ann (Mayotte) Sargent. He was raised and educated in Pittsfield. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a logger for many years and was a sawyer. He also spent time as a sheetrocker. An avid outdoorsman, Jay enjoyed coon hunting, showing coon hounds, rabbit and deer hunting as well as bow shoots. Jay is survived by his daughter, Alisha Smith and her husband Larry of New Hampton; his two granddaughters, Meredith and Rebecca Smith both of Pittsfield; his siblings, Debra Morin and her husband Paul of Northfield, Dolores Batchelder and her partner Rodney of Meredith, Russell Sargent, Jr. and his wife Tamara of Holderness, Donna Sargent of Allenstown and Samuel Sargent and his girlfriend Lori of Barnstead. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, January 28th from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Pittsfield Community Center, 68 Main St. in Pittsfield.
