Pembroke – James F. Calimeri, 73; of Pembroke, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the Elliot Hospital following a period of declining health.

He was born on July 11, 1953, in Ilion, NY; James attended the local schools and went on to get his bachelor’s degree in nursing. For over 20 years he was employed at the Elliot Hospital as a registered nurse, a job he truly enjoyed.

James had a love of music and theater; he liked to play his guitar and was in many theatrical productions throughout his life. He served on the Board for the Majestic Theater as well as being involved with many of their productions throughout the years. One of his most memorable roles was Santa Claus in the Miracle on 34th Street. James was also well known for his jokester personality; he enjoyed entertaining people and making them laugh.

He was predeceased by a son, James Calimeri.

James is survived by his wife, Laura (Heath) Calimeri of Pembroke, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. His children, Angelina Calimeri and Rebecca Troy and her husband Brian as well as many grandchildren.
