EPSOM - Gregory M. Esmel, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at his home in Epsom, NH.
Gregg, born on October 6, 1956 to the late Raymond and Sylvia (Abaz) Esmel, grew up in Haverhill, MA as one of seven siblings.
An avid musician and singer, Gregg studied in Boston under world-renowned vocal instructor and performer Dante Pavone, originally from Italy. Along with voice, Gregg was also a particularly skillful bass guitarist. He would later go on to open a music store and studio of his own, Thunderbolt Music in Plymouth MA. Here, he continued to teach voice among various other musical instruments. Gregg also ventured into the custom guitar amp business, creating his own brand of hand-built guitar amps from scratch.
A passionate car enthusiast, Gregg would often spend his free time tinkering with his cars. He took a particularly strong interest in Porsches, and became a master Porsche mechanic. This would lead to a length of his career being a self-employed mechanic.
Gregg was a loving father, who shared many of his interests and hobbies with his son. He was always eager to pass down his knowledge, and took every opportunity to do so. Many nights were spent in his home studio, where they would play music together. When they were not playing music, Gregg was in the garage teaching his son everything he knew about cars.
Gregg is survived by his son, Trevor Esmel of Merrimack NH. He also leaves six siblings, Jeffrey Esmel of Danville NH, Donna Esmel of Haverhill MA, Steven Esmel of Pembroke NH, Curtis Esmel of Derry NH, Jennifer Vecchi of West Barnstable MA, and Dana Esmel of Haverhill MA.
