Obituary

PEMBROKE- Mr. Gordon L. Blais, 102, a longtime resident of Pembroke, passed away at the Courville at Manchester on February 9, 2023 after a short period of declining health. Born in Manchester, Gordon was the son of the late Edgar and Ida (Manseau) Blais. He was raised and educated in Manchester and had been a resident of Pembroke since 1980. An honorably discharged Veteran, Gordon served his country during World War II from 1940 up until his time of discharge in 1945. Prior to his retirement, Gordon worked as a school bus driver for 14 years for the towns of Pembroke and Bow. He was also employed by International Paper as a flexographic machine operator. He was the oldest surviving member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 5260- Our Lady of Cedars. Gordon was predeceased by his beloved wife, Velma (Adams) Blais, his son, Joseph Blais and 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his grandson, Joseph Blais, great grandson, Michael Blais as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, February 12th from 1 to 3 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St. in Pembroke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 13th at 10 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown. Burial with military honors with follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bedford.
