Center Barnstead – Frances "Jeanne" Eastman, 99, of Center Barnstead, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born on March 16, 1927, in Waltham, MA; daughter of the late Elbourn and Mary J. (Musgrave) Banks. Jeanne was employed as Barnstead's Town Clerk/Tax Collector and later as a Rural Mail Carrier for over 20 years with the United States Postal Service. She enjoyed knitting, including making thousands of tiny hats for newborns at Elliott Hospital, as well as reading, bowling, teaching her children to play cribbage, traveling, and birdwatching. In her younger years, she also loved gardening. Jeanne was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Besides her parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her husband James "Bud" Eastman, her siblings, Marjorie Palmer, Earl Banks and Edna Bickford. She is survived by her children, Marjorie Terry of Center Barnstead, Robert J. Eastman of Florida and Judith Forsyth and her husband George of Center Barnstead, two granddaughters, Suzanne Terry and Jessie Fifield and her husband Jason, her great grandchildren, Austin and wife Bailey, Madison and Savannah, one great-great grandson, Bryson, nieces, Dr. Suzanne Palmer, Kathy Banks-Nutter, Maureen Dame and Linda Banks and two nephews, Stephen Banks and Edward Palmer. A period of visitation with refreshments will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 1PM-2:30PM at the Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom. A brief service will be held in the funeral home beginning at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Granite VNA Hospice, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301.
