CONCORD- Elizabeth "Betty" (Barrett) Murray, passed away June 3, 2022, in Concord NH after a short illness. Following employment at Beede Electrical, Betty worked as a housekeeper at St. Paul's School full-time from 1968 to 2004 and continued to work at SPS on a part-time basis until 2008. In 1990, she was recognized for her many years of exceptional performance, when she received the School's Benjamin Rush Toland Memorial Award. She was described then as: "A willing worker who never refuses to do a job and is willing to help anybody; a devoted employee who never misses work, always volunteers for extra duty, and miraculously never seems to be sick; (one who) never received anything but the highest praise from the faculty, an excellent worker, conscientious, reliable, and discreet." Married for nearly 49 years until predeceased by her husband David B. Murray in 2011, Betty loved to go on boat cruises and travel, returning to favorite places like Wells Beach in Maine and Nova Scotia, Canada regularly. Betty is survived by a daughter, Darlene Murray of Malden MA, and a niece, Judith Animus of Concord, as well as several others, including nieces and nephews. A well-attended graveside committal service was held Thursday, June 9th, at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord NH. Recognizing her devotion to her cat Kit, and to all the other cats which she took wonderful care of, donations in Betty's memory may be made to Pope Memorial SPCA, 94 Silk Farm Road, Concord NH 03301.
