Dorothy M. Hussey, 100, beloved wife of the late Edwin Hussey, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Presidential Oaks in Concord. She was born on June 14, 1924 in Concord, NH to the late Mark and Gladys (Leighton) Fellows.
Dorothy graduated from Concord High School in 1942. She married Edwin Hussey in 1948 and moved to Lane Road in Chichester to the "Lane Farm" where she and her husband ran a dairy farm and raised their family of three children. After devoting the majority of her time helping on the farm and raising her children, she went back into the workforce as a waitress for Havenwood for 20 years before her retirement in 1989. One of her favorite places to go was Short Sands Beach in York, Maine where she would spend many summer days reading and walking the beach collecting sea glass and sand dollars. She loved taking off with her best friend, Eunice Bates, checking out antique shops, enjoying luncheons, and exploring lots of different areas around New England. Dorothy loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed many camping trips. On any given day you could catch her in the back yard or on her sun porch reading and doing crossword puzzles. She got lots of enjoyment watching her wild birds and kept them well fed year-round. She was a long-time member of the CHIPECO Women's Club where she had many neighborhood friends that got together for crafts, dinners, and friendship time. She was also a member of the Chichester Historical Society for a period of time. In June of 2019, she was the recipient of the Boston Post Cane for being the eldest resident of Chichester.
Dorothy is survived by her son: David Hussey and his wife Naomi; her two daughters: Susan Coffey and her husband Ed, Carol Linder; her three grandchildren: Eric, Chelsea and Byron; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Per her request, a private graveside service will be held in the spring at Pleasant View Cemetery in Rumney. Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel in Epsom will be assisting the family with arrangements.
