PITTSFIELD- Clarence G. Schmidt passed away on February 28, 2022, after a long and exhausting battle with cancer.
Born in Schenectady, NY, in 1936, Clarence was the son of the late Clarence and Naomi (McKeon) Schmidt. He lived most of his younger years in Schenectady and the surrounding areas until he joined the Army.
Clarence was an avid boater spending numerous hours on Mariaville Lake, NY, and Sacandaga Reservoir, NY. He and his sons learned by trial and error how to water ski and spent many weekends on "his" island in Sacandaga Reservoir with family, friends, and whoever showed up.
Many times, he was the life of the party with his humor and quick wit. Please remember him for his humor and kindness mixed with some "old-fashion" stubbornness.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Mabel Schmidt Wagstaff, Pennsylvania and his brothers, Frank Schmidt and Lawrence Schmidt, Schenectady, NY.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Dimmick; his siblings, Edward Schmidt and his wife, Marsha; Margaret Schmidt Lupi; and William Humphrey; and his sons Clarence Schmidt and Keith Schmidt and his wife, Nancy; and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5th from 10 to 11 A.M. in the Roan Family Funeral Home - Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 A.M. Burial will take place in the spring. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.stilloaks.com
