Concord – Celina Chamberlain, 95, of Concord, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Pleasantview Nursing Home following a period of declining health.
She was born on March 27, 1929 in Claremont, NH; daughter of the late Arthur and Annie (Benton) Chamberlain.
As a young woman, Celina was employed as a clerk-typist for the State of New Hampshire, in what is now Human Services. She also worked for many years with the NH National Guard and even spent some time as a State Treasurer. She delighted in dining out, going on extended jaunts with friends and just being with others. Celina cherished a lively holiday gathering with young children and dogs. Dogs particularly brought her joy when she got the view of a dog passing by with its head stuck out of a car window. Celina enjoyed "riding shotgun" as she described it, while enthusiastically re-visiting Concord neighborhoods and nearby towns with friends. She felt if she had been born earlier, riding shotgun undoubtedly would have been her profession! She enjoyed taking walks throughout Concord, including weekly treks to Sunday Mass. She was an avid reader, preferring biographies and multiple newspapers, and was a frequent visitor to the Concord Public Library as well as a regular guest at the Friendly Kitchen. Celina loved music, reliving memories from the past, and trivia. She was a student of English and made it clear to all that she did not appreciate abbreviations nor acronyms!
Her gratitude was endless, and she will forever be remembered as a gentle, witty and very special lady.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, M. Louise Morin, nieces, Marilyn Packard, Carolyn Miller, Roberta Morin and great nephew, Robert Packard
She is survived by a great niece, Tienne Whittemore of West Bloomfield, MI, great nephew, Mark Packard and his wife Joyce of Orange, NH as well as several extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at St. Mary's Church, 32 Pearl Street, Claremont. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 35 Central Street, Claremont.
