CONCORD – Carolyn N. Bunnell, 81, of Concord, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at home on Saturday, October 12, 2024. She was born in Nashua on April 18, 1943, daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Hyslop) Nelson. Carolyn was raised in Gilmanton Iron Works and earned her teaching credential at Keene State College. She later went on to earn her master’s degree from Antioch College. She taught for 2 years in Belmont and then at the Garrison School in Concord, which was later replaced by Beaver Meadow. Carolyn was a teacher for over 30 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the daughters of the American Revolution and the Pierce Brigade of Concord. She enjoyed reading, cooking and being around animals of all kinds. She was a longtime member of the West Congregational Church in Concord and volunteered many hours in their soup kitchen. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Bunnell in 2021 as well as two sisters, Elayne Cole and Jean Partridge and her brother, Wayne Nelson. She is survived by her children, Robert Willis (Bill) Bunnell and his wife Kym of Frisco, TX and Elizabeth “Betsy” Bunnell of Concord, brother-in-law, Bob Cole and his wife Julie of Concord, sister-in-law Judy Nelson of Hill, four grandchildren, Zachary, Jake, Matthew and Katie as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. A service will be held at West Congregational Church, 499 N. State Street, Concord on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 1PM. Interment is private and will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pope Memorial SPCA or to Granite VNA Hospice. The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel in Epsom is assisting the family with arrangements.
