After a period of failing health, Barbara Brown, 88, passed away on May 9, 2026, at Presidential Oaks in Concord, NH.
Barbara was born on January 10, 1938, daughter to Emma Nelson Carlson and Edwin Fredrick Carlson in Concord, MA where she attended school. She met and married David Roberts Brown in 1956. Together, they raised five children, Lorri, Rebecca, Amy, Rachel and Matthew. During this time, she was a homemaker raising her children and helping her husband renovate and remodel four different homes located in Bedford, MA, Weare, NH, Lancaster, NH and Troy, ME. While living in Lancaster, NH, Barbara and David helped build and operate the Farmers Campground for many years.
As a Master Gardener, Barbara designed and maintained many beautiful flower and vegetable gardens as well as fruit orchards. She was a woman of many talents; she played the piano and accordion, singing to both and entertaining many along the way. Her favorite hobbies included quilting, painting, hooking and braided rugs, knitting and other home crafts. Barbara studied genealogy and spent many years researching and bringing to print the history of her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Congregational Church of Weare, NH, Congregational Church of Lancaster, NH and the Troy Union Church in Troy, Maine.
Over the years, Barbara and her husband David loved to travel the country with their camper and ride their Harley Davidson clocking over 100,000 miles (even to Alaska). While living in Alaska Barbara was an IRS Auditor.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband David, daughter Rachel and grandson Morgan.
She leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She will be missed by many.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 19th at Rogers Cemetery, Rogers Road, Troy, Maine.
