CHICHESTER- Alan D. Kear, 74, of Chichester, passed away on September 16, 2026, after a short period of declining health.

Born in Brighton, Massachusetts, Alan was the son of the late George and Catherine (Kelly) Kear. He grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, where he received his education. After living in Waltham for many years, he moved to New Hampshire, first settling in Epsom before making his home in Chichester with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

Before retiring, Alan worked as a warehouse supervisor for The Portland Group in Manchester. Retirement proved too quiet for him, however, and he soon returned to work part-time, continuing until June 2025. Over the years, he also worked as a machinist and truck driver.

Alan found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially gathering around a campfire with family and friends. He made many cherished friends and memories at the former Hillcrest Campground. A lifelong New England Patriots fan, he loved reminiscing about his years as a season ticket holder, even though the team rarely, if ever, won a game.

Above all, Alan’s family was his world, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He treasured their time together and was always eager to join in whatever they were doing. Whether enjoying weekly Taco Tuesdays followed by a game of cribbage, spending weekends at the lake as their enthusiastic water-sports spotter, or traveling with them on family adventures such as trips to Jamaica, Alan simply loved being together. The memories they made with their Papa will be treasured forever.

Alan is survived by his daughter, Colleen Vandi, and her husband, Dennis; his beloved grandchildren, Ashton, Silas, and Aria, all of Chichester; his brother, George Kear, and his wife, Maureen, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts; and his sister, Cathy Antonucci, of Epsom, New Hampshire, wife of the late Tom Antonucci.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd from 4 to 6 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 24th at 10 A.M. in St. Joseph’s Church, 844 First NH Turnpike in Northwood. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Pittsfield.
